VFX Editor
Description
The Editorial team at DNEG is essential for the smooth running of our shows. Working hand in hand with our Production teams, the VFX Editor is responsible for handling all DNEG editorial tasks required for a project.
The DNEG Production teams will rely on the VFX Editor to have a thorough knowledge of all cuts, keeping them updated with the latest scans and retimes whilst also maintaining VFX databases with up to date editorial information.You’ll liaise directly with the client Editorial team and be the editorial point of contact on behalf of the DNEG Production teams and artists. You will be responsible for QC’ing turnover material entering and client versions leaving the facility. You may also be called upon to assist in running client or internal review sessions within DNEG.
There is a creative element to the role and you’ll be asked to assist the PR and internal teams with show based promotional material and in-house initiatives.
Training our Editorial Assistants and Assistant VFX Editors is a core part of being a VFX Editor. It is important you have the drive to train, encourage and support those working beneath you and delegate work fairly to promote a rewarding training environment.
Must Haves
- Experience working in a VFX Editorial department.
- High level of proficiency in Adobe Premiere.
- A thorough understanding of common Editorial tools and workflows.
- A firm understanding of the VFX process, terminology, LUTs and colour spaces.
- Good understanding of common film and video formats, timecode, file types and frame rates.
- Experience using Adobe Media Encoder and multimedia playback software, such as Baselight, Hiero or RV.
- Experience of database management and use of Shotgrid / Shotgun.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Avid Media Composer or DaVinci Resolve
- Prior use of a Linux OS
- Familiarity with Nuke
- Knowledge of After Effects and Photoshop
